What to do if you have fullness in a quilt. November 28, 2017 17:38

Well I thought that it was time to write another blog.

I have been working on a quilt that a great friend and client has made and asked me to quilt for her.

She does great work and I always enjoy working on her work. This quilt is no exception. I saw no problems with it till I started to quilt it. I will say that this was not a big problem, one that I can handle. When I got to the center of the quilt I notice that the sides were bowing out ( the center was wider then the top and bottom edges) what to do when this happens? Well I looked at the blocks to see if I can see any easing of seams. I look at the seams to find were the fullness is coming from. I like to keep the fullness were it comes from.

As you can see from the picures above I also used a tape measure to make sure that everything was the same width as the top and bottom edges, as I stableized the quilt.

Keeping fullness were it belongs.

The next few Pictures will show what happened to the fullness in the block when I start to stitch in the ditch around everything.

I have stitched in the ditch around the block and around the house.

I stitched between the house and the grass area.

I stitched around the appliqué that is on the grass area.

On this last picture you can see that I have stitched on the grass area behind the appliqué. There is no more fullness in the grass area.

This picture has the house and grass area all quilted the last thing that I quilt is the background of the blocks.

Here is the block all finished. As you see no more fullness.

What is a Cupcake Mix Recipes or Cake Mix Recipes and how to use them. July 20, 2017 13:53

For those of you that follow me may have seen a new product called Cupcake Mix Recipes or Cake Mix Recipes. For this Post I will be using the Cupcake Mix Recipes 3 ( there are four different Recipes for the CupCake Mix Recipes, and there are 8 different Recipes for the Cake Mix Recipes) Each recipe will give you a different combination of half square triangles or what have you. In each pack you will find that there is 44 recipe cards.( all the same)

Cupcake Mix Recipes 1 through 4

Cupcake Mix Recipes use Charm Packs or Five inch squares and 7/8 yard of a backround fabric cut into five inch squares.

Cake Mix Recipe 1 through 8

The Cake Mix Recipe use Layer Cake Packs  and 3 1/8 yard of background fabric cut into ten inch squares.

I am going to show step by step on how to use these recipe packs.

My Charm Packs and my background fabric cut into five inch squares.

put a Charm pack fabric and a background fabric (on top) right sides facing

take one of the recipe cards from the pack and place it on top of the background and pin through all layers.

I pinned in the four corners making sure that the pins are away from the sewing lines.

Sew on the dotted lines start at the star and follow the numbers

Cut on the solid lines some of the recipes will indicate what solid line needs to be cut first.

My pieces cut apart and before paper has been removed

After paper has been removed and Ironed.

I am sewing my components into this layout. Here are two other layouts that you can make with Cupcake Mix Recipe 3

I am sure that you can play and come up with other layouts. You do not need to do what I did. You can mix up the components to make each block scrappy.

and here is two of the block finished. Cupcake Mix Recipe 3 gives you two  2 1/2 inch block from one recipe card.  I hope that you enjoyed reading up on this new and fun product that you can find in my shop.

My First post June 09, 2015 16:15

I have been working for the last nine days getting the fabrics entered onto the shop. I did not think that it was going to take me as long. I have not even gotten on half the fabrics that are in the store onto the on line shop. So far I have put on most of the Moda fabric that I have. I still have more to put on and there are more coming soon to the store.

In the next few days I am going to work on getting all the Downton Abbey Fabrics that I have in the store listed onto the shop. So stay tuned.

Happy shopping
